You’re on LinkedIn and you chose to be anonymous? This is something I hardly understand, why don’t tell who you are when you visit someone else profile? I understand that sometimes there are people you want to block from watching your activities on linkedin, It happened to me once a previous employer who was watching my LinkedIn activities every day,…

What does HR do?

What does HR do? | LinkedIn I was reading an interesting story, a few days ago, here in linkedin about someone that has been fired even if doing the right thing I Did the Right Thing and Still Got Fired: My Cautionary Tale Story and comments were interesting and make me thinking about a crucial point of the story, the role of the HR. It is quite commonly accepted that HR people are not on the employee side, and mostly they’re just the firearm of the management accomplishing all the worst and filthy actions you can imagine. But Why this is…

Managers and Leaders are not the same thing

Managers and Leaders are not the same thing | LinkedIn Managers and Leaders are not the same thing Oct 29 2014 120Views 18Likes 4Comments Share on LinkedIn Share on Facebook Share on Google Plus Share on Twitter There is always a lot of talk about managers and leadership, but I sometimes have the feeling there is a little confusion on the subject. I can agree that a manager needs to have leadership qualities, as some other key soft skills, but leadership, per se, is not enough. Wait, this means that a great leader can’t be also a great manager? Exactly,…

HP and Symantec: You two I split in two…..   So seems a few days I wrote about gigantism in the tech industry (see my articles on Daft Blogger Magazine)and just as a quick answer we have had new split decisions coming from two big giants…HP and Symantec. Come on guys I didn’t know my opinions were so important for you…   In a period of hard recession it is quite normal to see companies that try to cut costs and staff, but HP and Symantec goes further and decided to split themselves: is this a good and sound operation?…

What if…

What if Michael Dell was right?   The biggest tech companies are struggling in a crisis that seems not to have a end. Cisco, HP, even Microsoft have announced layouts and reduction of employee. We can say this is a common issue for a moment of crisis, companies need to rise up ROI and cost reduction is a key factor. It’s also undoubted that laying off personnel is the easiest way to reduce costs. But is this crisis just a matter of costs and ROI? or there are deeper reasons that are hitting those companies? The economical crisis is just…

Has ever been anything called Palestina?

One of the most common statement I have heard lately is that has not ever existed a “Palestinian” state. This is historically not correct and it is quite easy to find historical sources that talk about “Palestine” as a geographical and political entity. Specific references to “Palestine” date back nearly five hundred years before “the time of Jesus.” In the 5th Century BCE, Herodotus, the first historian in Western civilization, referenced “Palestine” numerous times in chronicle of the ancient world, The Histories, including the following passage describing “Syrians of Palestine”: “…they live in the coastal parts of Syria; and that region of…

World Dictionary New Words and Meaning: jew

Words change with changing the time: change in meaning, pronunciation, spelling and so on. Today I’ve learned that there is another word I were not aware of the modern meaning, this word is Jew. Actually this is a word that have had different meanings through the recent and not so recent history, in my naïve vision the word was referring to someone who is a member of a specific religion or religious group but today I’ve learned a more specific set of meanings. Accordingly to social networks and broadcast media today the word assume different meaning but somehow I’ve been able…

World Dictionary New Words and Meaning: Communist

They’re “Communists“. – This is a common way to express a feeling against someone. Communist and communism have lost the original meaning to be used, nowadays, as a synonymous of “Bad Guy that is against Freedom, Truth, Democracy, Life, God and everything holy and so, as a matter of fact, terrorist, killer and all the worse” After the end of the so-called “cold War” and the downfall of the former USSR what is left is just an abused and empty word “communism” still used as a propaganda flag to show the “enemy” in a general way. If you’re against me so you’re “communist”, so it…
